		<description>I think the point of having people sign up is that Chase gets more loyalty out of customers who know they are getting an added bonus. It&#039;s still silly that Chase would claim you need to sign up in order for them to properly tie purchases to accounts. I know that&#039;s not the real reason. Whatever _is_ the real reason, I wish they&#039;d just say it... or stay silent.</description>

Though if it&#039;s just that they wanted you to interact with them and know that you were getting the bonus, that is odd. And I would agree your approach would be better. Did you read all the terms and conditions? Are you sure you aren&#039;t signed up for some sort of credit protection insurance now or something?</description>
