Why People Kill Puppies

comcastMy internet is down. Again. This isn’t the second time this month, or even the third. I have logged ten days without service for more than an hour in the last four weeks. Just today, I’ve been without service three times.

I’m tired of this up and down, connected and unconnected, lifestyle. I just spent 5 minutes staring at my screen, considering it’d feel to take a baseball bat and smash it all: computer, desk, lamp, white board… everything. Unfortunately, smashing my computer isn’t going to solve anything.

Service providers are the bane of my existence, and the current culprit is Comcast. When AT&T can provide better coverage for my iPhone than the company that has a static line running into my very home, there is a problem. AT&T, the company that can’t seem to provide consistent coverage for an hour drive to Seattle. And don’t get me started on Verizon and their willingness to sacrifice years of customer loyalty over stupid billing errors.

I don’t want your day of free service. It does me no good when there’s no service.

I don’t want $15 or $30 off my bill for the next six months.

I want to pay the full price and have internet access.

I've had problems like that, often it's the cable modem or router. They will usually give you a replacement cable modem without too much hassle.
  • Research satellite Internet. The latencies are high, which takes gaming, or anything real-time, off the table. The speeds are pretty good though, and the providers cover most everywhere.
  • (APPLAUSE!) Right there with ya, man. Maybe some day soon we'll be able to dispense with all these apparently useless wires and have something that actually WORKS.
