Ed, I recently started using BeejiveIM (pronounced Bee Hive). It allows you to sign in to all of your IM accounts at once including AIM/Mobile Me, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber, MSN / Windows Live, Myspace, Yahoo, and Facebook. You can leave the app and you'll stay logged in for up to 24 hours. If someone IMs you, you'll get a push notification. Clicking OK on the notification will launch the app so that you can continue the conversation. Pretty slick. I really hope that they implement the same feature in the Skype iPhone app and/or add Skype support to Beejive. ...And I'd really love gmail/google apps mail to send push notifications. Fingers crossed.

Not to thread-jack my own site, but...

I love your handle: Nevyn. Are you a fan of Kerr's Deverry and the Westlands?

Only problem with that? The carriers just lost their payment model. A huge chunk of users just went from sending 1k txts per month, to sending 10, when there is no wifi available; Or from using 500 minutes to using none, since they use Skype all the time. At least that's the way the carriers see it.....
