Second Life

A couple weeks ago, posted an entry on his blog (link) about Second Life – advertising his upcoming appearance on the SLCN show “Meet the Author,” and encouraging people to join him “in game,” at ThirdLife Bookstore and Grounds (link). I’d never been to Second Life, so I took him up on the offer. I attended the live recording of Mike’s appearance on “Meet the Author” (watch the recording), and spent some time speaking with him about his workshop for writers of speculative fiction.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to attend any of the workshops yet, but I have been able to meet a good number of writers and editors, of all stripes, through a group called Written Word. One of the group’s organizers is Adele Ward (“Jilly Kidd”), the host of “Meet the Author.” If you’re a writer, and you visit Second Life with any frequency, I encourage you to come to Cookie Island and meet the folks of Written Word. They host poetry readings, writer workshops, and events such as “Meet the Author,” on a regular basis.

In the near future, I’ll be talking about some Second Life events with authors you may be interested in hearing from. In the meantime, log on and stretch your virtual legs.

If you want to track me down, ping “Normal Rayna.” (Yes, I know, it’s a horrible name.)
